It’s Frostbite Season!

It’s Frostbite Season!

For starters, please keep all cats indoors, and beware of frostbite for sensitive paws! My clients who do not wear booties can withstand the cold for just long enough to pee, and we usually require a break indoors before heading back out to poop.

Without booties, ice and snow needs to be removed from the inside of front and back paws; imagine holding freezing cold snow in your bare palm until it melts, OUCH!

Per petMD: “What to Watch For. Symptoms of frostbite on dogs include the skin becoming very pale with a bluish-white hue due to a lack of blood flow. Ice may also form around the affected area. When the area is touched, it feels very cold or brittle, and may be painful.”

If possible, I highly recommend booties for your pupper this snowy season! They can be found online and in stores at various pet retailers. Let’s keep their tootsies safe and warm!!!
